Works on Paper to Run at the Art Annex in Hillsdale, NY
In Betzie Bendis’ current
exhibit, Works on Paper, which runs
from March 19 – April 10, at the Art Annex in Hillsdale, NY, a collection of
more than 10 (?) of the artists’ work demonstrate how her passion for vintage
imagery and design, particularly 1940’s commercial art and textiles, greatly
influence her work. Characterized by
bold compositions, vibrant colors, and strong contrasts, her artistic process
begins with her fascination with sensual shapes, textures and colors.
Betzie Bendis is a Hudson
Valley artist whose work is inspired by nature and her experience as a graphic
designer for such publications as Audubon
Magazine. Now, her primary source of
inspiration for her richly diverse subject matter comes from her work as a
garden designer. Her lush, often
naturalized style of garden and stone designs have been featured in
publications such as Private Gardens of
the Hudson Valley (Monacelli Press) and in Hudson Valley Magazine.
Betzie studied art at Queens
College in Charlotte, NC, and in New York City at The Art Student’s League and
the School of Visual Arts. Her work has
been exhibited throughout the Hudson Valley and is in many private residences
in the New York metropolitan area. Her
studio is located in Ancram, NY.
